Down convert in cam --> to EDL for HDV???

This might have already been discussed before in other threads and forums but I wasn't sure on what to search for. But I was wondering about a workflow...

Lets say I shot some HDV footage with my FX1 then caputured it as SD footage using the cameras built in downconvert method. ( using the batch capture method so I would have a log list of SMTPE codes and in and out points from the tape(s)

Then edited that SD footage as I wanted to.

Is there a way to save that edit somehow, so that I could switch off the in camera dwnconvert... so that I could open a new project and do a batch capture, capture all those same clips but in HDV format, and then have it make a new sequence with that same edit but all HDV clips?

With out coping the sequence and then ' replacing the clips ' or doing a replace clip with command or sometihng. :zombie_smiley:

Basically I want to shoot something in HDV but its going to easier to work with in SD and will be put on DVD anyway. For the future I would like to be able to have a HD version of it.

So I guess what I'm asking is how to do an offline edit of HDV footage?
Can it be done?

Is the time code preserved when you do the in camera "downconvert"? If it is, then your SD edit should allow you to generate an EDL that would be usable with the HDV footage.

Yes it is preserved. So thats good then.... sweet deal.

Once you've captured the footage in SD..what do I do to recapture all those clips? Normally I would log all the clips and then do a batch capture, but I dont see a file or anything that will quickly make a new set of logged clips, which will recapture those HDV clips.
