Double The Avatar - M. Night officially insane

M. Night is making Avatar, based on a nickelodean series. Here's the description:

Nick TV's "Avatar," which is set in an Asian-influenced fantasy world permeated by martial arts and magic, follows the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his irresponsible ways and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.

Hahahahha.

This guy is so done.

And ironically, just like Cameron, he's obsessed with water! And rain.

This is NOT looking good. Lady In The Water must have really messed him up because I remember in his earlier interviews he always talked about only doing his own stuff. Guess life changes when your latest movie tanks.

Same name, different premise. This makes sense, M. Night has been moving towards doing stuff for his kids for awhile. He talks about that in interviews quite a bit.

I couldn't post on this subject last night...

But, Avatar is garbage. Too bad he didn't pick a better show to go live action with.

Bleh.

stupid. unbreakable was SOOOO good (hid best IMO), and Lady was good, but not great like his other films.

PS: NO, its not because Lady didnt have the "surprise ending" hes known for.

It sort of had a surprise ending.

I was pleasantly surprised, when the titles rolled and it was over.

Jeez. Having lots of caffeine today?

Some of the factors shaping my low opinion:
* Too much dialogue.
* Very little twist which he has normally banked on.
* All of the characters buy into the Fairy tale way too easily. No questions are really asked. Someone shows up in your place and you just take everything at face value right from the get-go.
* M. Shamilayiangaigan, whatever his last name is... seemed to like seeing himself in the movie quite a bit. Let's just say that his skills are better behind the camera.

I could go on but you get the drift. I really liked some of his other movies a lot but this was disappointing for me. Hey, we all make mistakes. I would pay to watch his next film though. Just stating my opinion.

P.S. Next time I'll think of a few one line jokes just for you so I can be worthy of putting up an opinion on this board. I know your response to my reply was the most hysterical thing ever written in the whole wide world. Now I have to put my coffee down.:violent5:

LOL Same here for the most part

It was a pretty movie with nice performances and atmosphere, but that's about it.

Forsman straight underminded you, dude. Seriously, Lady in the Water was okay. I don't see why people need to hate on him.

I'll hate on him after he goes through with Avatar. That show is just.... . . . . . . . ..

I don't hate him. In fact, I really am a fan but... He's not God or anything. This movie just wasn't as good as the other ones. No hate here.

"Forsman straight undermined you" -- That's silly.

Lady in the Water pwns. people bag on it, because it doesnt have the twist and it starts up early and takes you on this ride with these characters. If i remember correctly movies are about suspending belief, (depending on genre) and when i go to see what is advertised as a fairy tale, thats what i expect, and thats what i got. The audience is given the concept and where the story is going to go VERY early in the movie, yet i still hear from people, "i bet this is what the twist is" then when theyre proven wrong they are made to feel not so bright . Enjoy a movie for once.

Gorgeous movie, great direction, acting was good. Giomatti is greatness.

He will be even more GREATNESS in Bubba Nosferateu

oh and BTW, Unbreakable is my favorite easily by far a mile, landslide ETC ETC ETC>

me and my friend were talking about him a few nights ago and his movies can be really put in order for me or him. Like this is his best, then this one then this one and so on. Simply because they are all different and unique from eachother while maintaining his vision and feel. Hes more than just a fancy twist ya know?
