Double speed to full speed

I'm shooting a music video next Thursday. From what I understand, to get the certain effect i'm looking for (slower motion with the mouths moving at a normal motion) is to shoot the video with the talent singing it at double speed.

I created the song in Soundtrack, and will be editing the footage in Final Cut Express. I'm more or less completely lost at this point as to how to set it up.

What do I have to do to get the song in Soundtrack to the right speed for the on location shoot to sing along to? And once we shoot it, how do I slow the video down to the precise speed to assure it will match up with the music playing at a normal speed?

I apologize if that's confusing, and i'll try my best to clarify if i'm not explaining this clearly. This is a first for me.

Thanks

I have the same camera....
unfortunatly you need a camera that can do varible frame rates

I worked on a video where we did the effect, but they overcranked the camera
(shooting more FPS) the music was 200% speed....

when played back normal speed you got clean slo mo with the music at the right speed....

hope that helps

Well I do have access to a DVX100B, though i'd prefer not to use it due to some of the locations we'll be shooting. But I guess if that's what I have to do ... So how do I set that up?

Output music at 200% (With? Soundtrack? How?)
Shoot it at __ FPS..
Slow it all down with? ... And how?

Can you tell this is my first time? Ha.

Sounds like you don't have what you need. You need an HVX200 or better camera, with variable frame-rates. You need to shoot 60p/30p - or an equivalent. It will automatically slow it down. If you don't understand, you'll need to read up on how variable frame-rates work.

But if you can't get a variable frame-rate camera, its a moot point. You won't get good results just taking normal footage and slowing it down to 50%.

You could just drop the song in the Final Cut timeline, speed to 200%, and then export as a .wav file, burn it to a CD, or put it on an iPod.
