Hi, I don't know how this technique is called. But I'll show you an exemple of what I want to reproduce :

At 35 secondes of the video, theres some dots standing in the image with a white line tracked on the flower's movement. I tried to such thing, and I'm don't know how to do that much. I tried to go manualy but it takes fair enough time! If you what I'm talking about and how to do it, please tell me!

Thanks to respond!

It's called 'Motion Tracking'. You could search for some tutorials which are relevant to the version of After Effects which you are using.

Hi there!
Here's two nice and quite well explained turorials on After Effect's motion tracking method. Not exactly doing the same as you want, but can give you a good idea on how to do it:

Other than this, a simple null object and a basic motion tracking using the motion tracker tool would do it. Each null object per point, and then just analyze and apply to each point: done. Just link what you want to be matched to the null in the parent tab and you're done. It'll be set and follow the null object keyframes.

I would be willing to guess 99% sure that he used an effect from the effect library called the beam effect then motion tracked the start and end points to the flower via a null object. Here is a tutorial my buddy did that will be a ton of help

So basically you would track the flower with a null object then parent the start to the flower and the end to what ever other text or object you want. The lines would then grow and re-position with the movement of the flower

Thank you guys! I was aware of the motion tracking, but the tutorial brinks brought here is the thing I was searching for!

Thanks a lot for the tutorials. This is a really neat effect! I have a whole lot of really neat ideas for applications with this effect. Stumbling across this thread has been a personally valuable find for me by opening new doors and expanding the limits of my creativity in my film making. Would anyone happen to know anything about Cantaloupe TV? They are a video production company, and I am curious about what kind of work they do. Has anyone ever here ever done business with them?
