Ok - so that's some local production studios. Ok, ok not bad not bad... now let's go in the sites - either you get a 404 not found or you're blinded.

It wouldn't be so bad that 1: These people have Prosumer cameras - and theyre really not using em to 1/3 of their full extent.
2: They're getting work ie Music videos, commercials
3: They're getting work

So can somebody please tell monte what the **** is going on? Honest to God, compare their reels to my reel (err well Bluespider is hosting it now and don't wanna kill his bandwidth) but damn man! Holy ****!

Then I'm posting some thread and whatnot http://www.musicscene.org/portalpak/forumdetail.asp?frid=243300 - offering up - for free - a video shoot, along with a link to my reel. Hot damn - all i got was a phonecall, a kick in the ribs, and a bruised spleen

Whatever, it just blows my mind. Hell! The only real decent stuff we got here is Fischer edit - i chilled there and checked out the pimp ass inferno setups they had- but for real production stuff, i know for a fact that all of targets commercials (see spot save, et al) that are shown here are shot in LA, hell I'll be in LA on April 1st and 2nd sitting in on said shoot. Ah ****it whatever...


Just an angry rant - from a young man that is a bit dissapointed with his state.
Hope this didn't come off as too bitchy...

EDIT: For the record - one of those (1!) is a step towards professional... makes me cry sometimes...
 
Holy crap! I went to the link and browsed around the forum for a few minutes. It's TOXIC!

Stay Away, run away as fast as possible. Seems like most of the posts are by people that have been sniffing WAY TOO MUCH GLUE.
 
But Monte, none of those guys or gals look anything like Christian Slater. At least you've got that in your corner!

I manage a band in the area, so I'm familiar with most of the people who post on that damn site. I hate it. I stopped posting anything there a long time ago. It's the biggest collection of ego-driven, pretentious assholes you'll ever meet. They actually sit around all day posting and dreaming about getting "signed," so they can quit their jobs working for the fast food joint, male escort service, etc.

I went to a bunch of the sites, and sure some of em are awful... but some of the work if pretty damn good.

Your reel has some nice stand out shots indeed.. and also a few mundane ones as well..

I agree it is better than much of the stuff I saw, but there is also a bunch of nice work on those sites..

Not the greatest work I have ever seen but decent.. I dunno what your mad at? did I miss something on that page? should I venture into the forum to see what you mean?

I just don't think I really get why your so pissed at this site? cause some of the links are dead ends? poor web design?

help me out here...
 
Loki - I agree there is talent on a link there - they did videos for Prince, and other fairly big name artists. But I sometimes think to myself how some of these people get jobs and make lower end stuff with 3,000+ plus cams, and all I got is a 250 dollar canon handycam (all material in that reel was shot off that cam) and all I'm doing is venting - as you spend more time on this site - you'll come to realize that rant threads are posted occasionally. Just gotta roll wit da punches (as they say in the south)

your angry cause, people with better(pricier equipment if that is better to say) equipment are taking on low end jobs...

and your also mad cause... you have a $250 camera.. and . can't get any low end stuff???

Am I the only person here that doesn't understand this logic at all...

actually.. don't bother trying to explain.. I will just probably end up making myself look like an idiot...
