Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

i didn't like the theatrical cut. Some of my friends say I "just didn't get it" which I resent, considering the crap they usually watch.

Supposedly the directors cut does go about it quite differently, or so I heard, so I'm more than willing to give in another shot.

..."just didn't get it" hmph, go watch Ballistic again for your 43rd time (it's his favorite movie)..........

Idiot .............. >:(

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

"Ballistic" . . . as in "Ecks vs. Sever"?  That's someone's favorite film?  Really?

Omg, I just made a mess in my pants.

I'd say you need to diversify your hobbies a little bit, then!   ;)

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

Yes, as in Ecks vs Sever..... Can you imagine that guy analyzing YOUR film tastes?!?

I didn't hate it, I just felt the whole thing relied on HUGE logic holes. At the same time though, it has a huge following and i did only watch it once.

I'm much happier to sit through a new "directors cut", but i'd watch the original again just so if I was right I could prove it's story didn't work.

I really like both gyllenhals though

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

yeah baby, yeah! Darko rules! i'll definately be catching this in the theater this time around

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

I was part of a film discussion group and Donnie Darko was the film of choice at that time...

"filled with logic holes" You're right!
I watched and explained it to about 50 people...but I too would be lost if it wasn't for the DVD extra's explaining...the time theory and the backstory of time expansion. Once I explained it everyone loved the movie, so I take it without knowing that part, It's filled with TONS of logic holes!

Can't wait to see if he incorporated any of that into the movie itself!

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

Of which time? They broke up long before "Donnie Darko" . . . ::)

Unless you mean THE time.

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

The Bunnymen reunited recently for a new album (minus the drummer who's no longer with us, of course). I never checked it out, but I remember seeing an interview with Ian McCulloch and he was back to the bravado of the 80s, declaring the Bunnymen the rockingest band of out there.

Re: Donnie Darko, The Director's Cut

Well I had never seen this film until tonight (Man with small child does not get out to movies as much as he'd like) and I have to say what a wonderful film. Wow.

I was wondering what the hype was about and I am not dissapointed. This film had a 'feel' like "American Beauty" to me. Very surreal in aftertaste. I loved it.

The soundtrack was excellent (From THE time). So well thought out its almost as if you have to know the end and work yourself backwards if you were writing this.

What is it about Maggie Gyllenhaal that is so scrumptious?
