Dolly/slider strange feeling.

I love this moby video.

The push-in dolly movements are just great. They possess a strangeness to them that I am trying to figure out.

Something about it seems just ever so slightly artificial. Is it because the people are kinda posing in place? Is there a slight zoom along with the actual move?

Some moves are legit. Some like around 1:58 are the ones I am talking about. Seems to be the faster ones.

I have theories but I want to hear what the community thinks!

Hmmm, my hunch is that it feels strange because 1.) the geometry is slightly off 2.) the foreground is always in perfect focus, as if it were the same exact depth of field.

There definitely seems to be some sort of zoom happening. I couldn't say exactly what else.

1:58
Looks to me to be a little post production zoom along with some dolly action. Not a perfect dolly shot though. There is some mild turbulence in the shot.

It's definitely alittle of both. How much of either I don't know.

I don't believe there was any actual zooming of the camera lens it's self by the DP while the dolly was moving.

I love this video also.

at the tail end of each push in there seems to be a quick manual zoom of the lens. hard to say though cus the quality of the vid is so atrocious

You can clearly see a green screen in that video. Whether they used it for any of the dolly/zooms is anyone's guess.

There are one or two dollies I feel might be After Effects used on foreground elements to match with the actual dolly.
