I've found that PVC track doesn't last. Once you get a couple of nicks in it, its time to but new track.

I built my own but wish I had bought the Rowe set. I Mine is so heavy and not perfectly smooth that I spent a lot of time and money to not get what I wanted.

Sometimes D.I.Y. can be a money wasting *****.

All depends how talented you are and if you enjoy building stuff. I thought it would be a money saving way to get something, but I was way wrong.

Plus, I have never built a thing without bleeding and that dolly almost cost me an eye (the drill bit snapped and hit me in the safety goggles my buddy made me put on that I argued with him over).

We just got a glideshot and I was pretty happy with the results. Running on PVC it was smooth as glass. My only issue (and I guess its kinda big) is that my tripod just barely fits on the damn thing.

I made my own dolly, but every day I think about getting that Rowe Cine track set. I've definitely spent way too much time trying to get the stinking thing to support my weight without going nuts. I wish I had just looked into getting it in the first place.

I am mechanicaly declined for the most part and I had the Dolly done in under half an hour. The 6 wheeled version can support my camera and myself (230 lbs) with no duress. If support is a major concern though, get the 8 wheeled version.
