Dolly and jib in Broken

I posted this earlier on hardwear but maybe I should have done it here.
Anyone care to help?
In the special features of "Broken", the short film shot by Alex Ferrari ( I'm sure most people here are familiar with it) I saw them using some sort of jib arm that moves up and down. I don't know the name of it neither have I seen it before in any rental houses. Can anyone give me some info about that thing? Technical name; technical considerations and so forth.

Pardon my ignorance. I'm just trying to learn.

Yeah, from watching the film it looked like a normal 8' jib that they threw on top of a tripod. Nothing special about it other than how smooth they were with the operation of it.
