Dolley revision!

Today I built myself a new dolley =)

Its so much better than the one before.

As you can see, the old one has been booted off to the side.

The deck is 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood; totaling 1.5 inches thick. Damn! Then there is 3/4 inch risers that are only 3 inches wide, so the wheels don't scrape on the deck above.

It weighs a good 15-30lbs., but that helps for smoother shots cuz its heavier.

It may just be another dolley but I am proud of the stuff i make. Haha. I guess it's cuz I'm 16 and I pay for all my company expenses. :)

But i would also like to know how I could improve it. So feel free to let me know.

That looks pretty nice. Did you buy a kit for the wheels or put them together yourself? Also, can I have something to drink?

I made everything. Screw kits! Haha. That's not even half of what we have-you cant see the rest. My dad works props on "The West Wing," thats where we get all of that stuff. lol.

Dolly looks good man. One thing I would do is mount something on the sled to secure your tripod down with, a big "eye bolt", or a hook, or my favorite, the "D Ring". Then strap it down with a rachet strap or something. Helps keep the tripod from moving around when the dolly is in action.

As a matter of fact, my old dolley had that feature, and i just haven't transfered the hooks over...but now that I see yours, I am thinking maybe ill get one of those.

heh, i had to chuckle when i read this even though from a business standpoint it really shouldnt be funny to me. :) ..i do think youd be pleasantly suprised at how much of a difference a precision desigend and manufactured kit can make though. either way, good job on the dolly and happy shooting!
