Doing a commercial for a friends landscape company. His main request is to have the first have spooky and gloomy looking. Then the second half will be bright and sunny. Basically him saving the day. My question is, any suggestions on getting spooky looking footage without looking crappy? I have my techniques but curious about what others do.

Throw the hue off on the grass and bring down the brightness of the green channel to make it look more muddy and dead, and shoot during overcast of course!
And then when he saves the day you shoot during golden hour and crank up the green saturation for all that you're worth

The best method for creating a dark gloomy look will be based on the concept, script and location. As we dont know those important variables its difficult to give a solid suggestion.
