Doing FX in FCP?

I just got an iMac and Final Cut Pro Studio for Christmas and I was wondering what the best way is to go about doing FX like blood splatters and headshots? Would I use Motion or would I do it in photoshop? I have been messing around with Motion and after sitting on google for the past hour I can't find anything. If anyone has any links to tutorials in this subject it would be very helpful. Thanks!
 
Apple Pro Training Series, Motion

The APTS library are the absolute BEST way to learn Apple's pro apps. They come with DVDs of tutorial material so you can follow along as you do the lessons. Very easy to do, very easy to understand, super well done books.

Also, nothing personal, I have no idea why folks don't do this, but all of Apple's pro apps come with tutorials already! They're really great, too! You HAVE tutorials already in the box! They really are good and are the BEST and FASTEST way to get up and running with any Apple pro app.

Learn Motion, move on to Shake, you'll be fine.
 
Hey, I did some voiceover work on the last tutorial set for my friend Mary Plummer. She's usually involved in writing and editing the APTS manuals.
