does anybody know how to continue a shot into a mirror? what i mean to say is that i want a shot inwhich the camera zooms into the mirror then continues through it, never cutting. any ideas or suggesions?

thanks

If this is a set or a fake wall then cut out where the 'mirror' is . Dress foreground area with same look as area through the mirror if it was a mirror. Dolly camera and have set piece presplit to pull apart.

option 2:
Dending on the action and how close you can do a zoom/dolly in as tight as you can and then move the camera to where the mirror is and have it face what the mirror was reflecting. Continue the move. You'll need to do a softzoom or slight morph at the momment of switch.

option 3
Same as above but try to have soemthing pass in foreground so that transition is covered.

There's a great shot like this in 'Hate' if I'm remembering it right.
Check that out if you get a chance.

I think your best bet is a set wall as Scottdvx100 described.

what is a soft zoom or slight morph? and how could i accomplish the zoom or movement at equal speeds before and after the cut?

thanks

to lead into the mirror into something else....hmm

If you saw Harry Potter 3..the prisoner of azkaban...theres a few shots where they stand infront of a big mirror..and the camera passes thru the mirror both ways..from the back and front.

Well..if you a video tracker..this could be really easy..

Remove the actual glass from the mirror if you can...put small tracker markers on the edges of the mirror...then film the part of the camera walking thru the mirror.

Then for the scene to fill in for the emptyspace in the mirror...film as if people are looking at the mirror..i cant really describe this in words..ill try to paint it out..

In the end..use the trackers to match the motion...and paint out the trackers.

Second step:

Third step:

....hopefully my horrific pictures can help you out some how..

...althou my ghetto drawings are bad....they get down to the point....they show wat is needed to be done.

and I was really courtious...i gave a Front and Side view.
