Doggies...

Weeee look at that doggie run.

The overcast sucks, makes the footage look a little merky. Otherwise, neato stuff. The VFR on HVX are coolsville.

Nice work.

The thing that bugged me the most is the problem that the HVX has with detail in grass and foliage. - Looks pretty mushy.

The trails of water coming off the dog's tail before he shakes himself off are really great at 60 fps!

Thanks for posting!

Kevin...agreed about the grass. It's better without the 264 compression, but it's still soft. Some of it's the fast pan at fairly low shutter (1/250)...some of it's the soft overcast light I think. I've noticed some problems in greens even in bright sunlight too...mosquito noise in windy conditions. Will post some baseball stuff I took recently later tonight...there is some weirdness in the trees in the background. I still love the camera though!

For the money, you simply can't beat the HVX. - The frame rates, 4.2.2 color, 1080 24p, DVCPROHD codec, P2 - The list goes on.

But, damn that grass, those darn mushy leaves. "A man's got to know his limitations." I think it just pushes the limit of what the lower-res ccd in the HVX can handle. Those blades of grass are just like a billion little resolution charts scoffing as us.

I do think it has something to do with the amount of light on the grass. I shot some stuff with grass in brighter sun that looked good, not jaw dropping detail, but workable.

Thanks again for the footage. I loved the Crew stuff too.

There may have been a little softness in the greens but it looked quite filmy at those moments. nice footage.

Yeah, I agree completely. The trees and grass look like total mush. =( Sad.

nice job! I like the fact that the "old geezer", the dog with the white face is still rompin' and stompin'.

Talking to the owner of the old doggie and turns out this breed rarely lives past 10...this one was 11. (Apparently high rate of cancer in Goldens). When she saw the footage (she's the woman giving the old doggie a hug at the end) she was pretty teary eyed...said it really showed no matter how old they get, they're still puppies at heart. :)

damn those leaves !

damn those leaves !

maybe they were just the " wrong type of leaves " ?? our train network has had a problem with them for years !!!
