Hey guys,
Hope you all are doing well. I just got off a long (14 hour) shoot using the HVX with 35mm adapter and I have a few questions. Forgive me in advance if these questions have been answered before but I didn't find much information about these things and I am really tired.
I have two basic questions:
Question the first-Is the depth of field shallower shooting in HD with a 35mm lens adapter vs. shooting on 35mm film? I am curious because focus was tough( a common problem, I know) and the 1st AC's I know don't seem to have that much trouble pulling. We are shooting HD 720p24pN on Zeiss Ultra Primes opened to f 2.0 or f1.9 and with the HVX wide open. This might sound stupid so forgive me in advance but I am curious if the shallow depth of field through the 35mm lens combines with whatever loss of depth of field you would get by having the camera wide open creating the ultra shallow DOF I felt like I was dealing with today.
Question the second- I am using an old Sony Trinitron color monitor to pull focus by. It is about 10-12 inches doesn't show 16:9 and is heavy as heck! I am curious (and sorry in advance for the vague specs) if this is something that would be considered sufficient to pull focus by (often I feel unsure what is in and out of focus) or if I should push the production to get a marshall HD monitor to mount on the camera.
Thanks in advance dudes!
