Okay, I am new to the 35mm adapter. I am planning on buying one this summer. I looking at buying the following lens: (Please, suggest any other lens.)

24mm or 28mm f2
50mm or 55mm f1.4
135mm f2.8

My question is... Is there any guides to show you what lens to use for certain situations? Guides for subjects to camera distance?

Thanks,

Bryan

1.4/35mm
1.4/50mm (or alternatives, 1.2/50. 1.2/55)
1.4/85mm (more often the afordable 1.8/85)

35 for establishing shoots and/or movement (dolly, handheld, etc)
50 medium shoots (focus rolls)
85 close up and portraits. (just a rough guide)

I went to the camera store with my DVX100B w/ SGpro and the guy told me not to get just a 50mm lens because your stuck with that, (have to buy more). He told me I should buy a zoom lens, but I heard someone in here say that this was a "hassle" but I don't understand how. If someone could explain if a zoom lens is a problem while using the SGpro.

The problem with zoom lenses is not so much that they are a hassle, but pricewise, they are a lot slower lenses. Also, if you get a zoom lens, you have to re-focus onto the ground glass every time you change your focal point.

Like previous poster mentioned, unless you got $$$$, it's a good idea to get 28mm, 50mm, and 85mm primes.

Refocus on the ground glass everytime.... Wow, that is a hassle... I guess 50mm will be my 1st lens I buy.

Course, that's the normal / common procedure...

First; normal lens ( like 50mm f1.4 ), than something wider ( 28mm or 35mm ) and tele ( 85mm or 135mm ) and than go look out for Zooms
