Hi. Wondering if anyone can give me a hand
I jsut got back to working on my DIY DOF adapter

One of the tutorials that I read said to focus the 35mm adapater to inifnity and get the clearest focus.. I dont mean to sound stupid but I am really new to this and want to learn as I go..

Heres what I did first.. I have the adapter made and the DOF works but not the way I would like it to.

I have a MinoltaMD 50mm 1:1.7 lens

Now to get my distance for making this. Do I turn the zoom so the lense is zoomed as far out as it will go and then get a clear focus that way and then that is my length between the GG and lens?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What you're looking for is called setting the "Flange Distance". Most say to go outside and look down the road for the furthest object and set it like that. It works, but isn't accurate. I'd say buy a digital caliper and set the lens to GG that way.

If I remember correctly it's 44.5 mm

ok

ok

But do I do that with the 50mm lens zoomed out all the way or jsut standard
Because I found I have two differant lengths of distance for clear focus depending on how the lense is

1. Attach the 50mm to your adapter, then attach the adapter to the camera.

2. Turn the still lens (the 50mm) to infinity.

3. Zoom in until you fill the whole frame (shouldn't be any vignetting or cropping).

4. Now turn on the manual settings to your camera. Then turn the MF on the Camera until you find the honey spot (proper focus).
