This is my first post in this community, I'm more used to being in an effects based community with less know how but I really wanted to build a DOF adapter. It seems you guys know a lot about this.
So my first question is: Static or rotating?
I have a working CD player motor and frosted dummy CD for use in the DOF Machine design. But I also viewed the design here with the beeswax filter. This design seems simpler, and more in my area of experience (PVC stuff, not electrical stuff).
The reason I didnt go with the wax route was because (unfortunately) I dont use a DVX. My camera has a 30mm lens *gasp* so I would have lots of trouble getting up to a 72mm macro.
I'm willing to go this route but I have this question:
If I use all those step up rings my lens is going to be a few inches away from the macro. Will the macro still work? Or will it be blury?
Conclusion of questions:
Rotating or Static?
Will a few inches of step-up rings make the macro out of focus?
