DOF adapter & Lens question

I am planning to buy the new letus extreme but I had a question about the lens choice for the adapters. You can get a Nikon, Canon EF or EOS mount for it.
What mount/lens combination is better?
I currently have over 5k in EOS lenses but I know that I would have to manually set the apeture on the lens with my slr first before I use it on my DOF adapter.
What lenses are better/easier to find on ebay etc...
Please help

Kind of comes down to personal preference, but what you mentioned about aperture is a bit of a set back for some of the lenses.

A lot of people like to go with Nikon for a couple of reasons. They have used basically the same mount for like the last 50 years so there are a ton of lenses out there that are available. You can basically use pretty much any lens they have ever made (or so that is my understanding), although some of them may require slight modification.

Beyond that, I can't really say. Canon obviously has made some great glass in their time.

You've already got a nice lens kit with your EOS lenses, so maybe start with that. The Letus has interchangeable lens mounts right? If so, maybe get the EOS mount and a Nikon mount. That way you can build a Nikon collection overtime...

Just a couple of suggestions for you. But I"m no authority on this type of thing.

Somebody on one of the threads recently said there was a simple way to adapt the canon lenses so they became manual iris.

as i understand (havent tested personally to confirm) but lenses intended for digital SLR cameras arent the best choice for 35mm video adapters.

"WHere is that thread to adapt the canon eos lenses?"

I don't know. It was within the last few weeks and probably on the 35mm adapter forum, but i can't do any better than that. Maybe if you just ask that question on the 35mm forum.

It may mean you disable them as auto lenses though.

I have found that I mostly shoot wide open on my lenses. I have a 28-70 2.8 that is my main go to lens, and I NEVER change the aperture on it. If I need more light, I have a couple f1.8 lenses in 28mm and 50mm for those occasions. I do however have a couple 3.6-5.6 zoom lenses that fine, but they lose so much light, you can ONLY use them outside in full daylight. You can't zoom with them, as the aperture changes during the zoom. I think if you zoom all the way in, then set the lens to 5.6 is will stay that way all the way through the zoom range, but I have to get this to work satisfactory. It still changes as you zoom with it.

It's also pretty quick to take a lens off, put it on a still camera, set the F-stop and put it back on the camera. Takes 15-30 seconds.
