I emailed the guy from http://www.enormousapparatus.com/35adapter.htm who built that crazy homemade adapter using all those filter rings. Here's his response:
There's been a lot of improvements made on?the home-made 35mm adapter?since I quit working on mine last year. The person leading the pack in James Hurd. He's named?his invention?the MICRO35. He has quite possibly perfected it for professional use. His prototype was constructed for the DVX100A, however I think he has plans for adapting it to be used on other cameras. He's recently announced that he will soon be selling a "how-to" manual for $30. He has stated that he will carry all of the specific parts needed for construction. He's also mentioned fabricating adapters for those who cannot do it themselves (for an additional cost). He has not yet announced an official date of release.
My recommendation is to discontinue all construction of your own design until you see his work.?His Micro35?is producing (by far) the best images I have seen from a home-made 35mm adapter.
Here are a few recent links from Mr. Hurd:
