Does This Mean I Already Have Firewire?

I'm not too smart about computers, I know I have USB ports on my computer so I wanted to check if the computer has firewire, I went under device manager, there''s a section IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers- Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller.

At least you have the "good" controller, TI's are the best.

Re: Does This Mean I Already Have Firewire?

Try looking on the computer itself to see if you have the port. Firewire comes in 2 plug variationg, the small one, like on the DVX, and a larger one, which is like a USB but thicker.

Okay ... in front of my computer at the buttom I have the 2 USB ports that you connect the cables to and there is a small one on the left which is not a usb port but different it says i.LINK S400 would that be it?

Re: Does This Mean I Already Have Firewire?

i.Link is sony's way of saying firewire (i think its named by sony?)

Re: Does This Mean I Already Have Firewire?

Yes. i.Link is your firewire port.

You'll need a 4-pin to 4-pin cable to use it.
