Does this makes sense to do?

I already have a file that I compressed using Compressor back in 2007. I have since updated my compression settings to make my videos look better when uploading to the web. Is it a bad idea to take that already compressed file and run it through compressor again but with the newer settings I created? I don't have the original project file on my hard drive anymore.

I would say yes, it's a bad idea. Why would you want to compress your file even more?

You're not going to gain much by running the already compressed file through another round of compression.

You'll just be compounding the compression artifacts. The only reason you would do this is if you needed a smaller file and you didn't have access to the original. There's no way that putting any video through a compressor is going to make it look better.
