Does this look about right?

I'm trying to figure out how to configure the Petrol bag for my SD 302 and wireless. Recorder purchase coming in the future. Does this look about right?

I'm befuddled by a couple of things:
1) Why does the front and back of the bag drop away? (Image 3) Is that to make cabling easier or is it intended to hold another piece of gear?
2) What's with the thing that looks like a pen holder? (Image 4) Is it intended for pens or something else?
3) Do you pros keep the mixer-camera cable attached when not in use or do you store it separately?
4) What do you do to keep your wireless antennae from getting bent in the bag?

Thanks for answering, as this is my first time setting up a mixer bag.
Bob

Bob,
Looks like you're on the right track, your question 2 is answered in 4 I store my antenna's in the so called 'pen holder'. I keep my Beta snake attached. I use the SD 442 and the snake is wired for the 10 pin is always straped on the side because it fits into my 1620 pelican just right. If I'm working with camera hops and need to shead weight I'll pop it off. Trew audio made mine with break aways at both ends it's well worth the extra cost. Concerning the back flap, I've seen some guys put their NP-1 batts . Good luck

for keeping break away cable, headphones and extra xlr accessible and out of the way, i use http://www.adorama.com/PBPS12.html

the front zipper i rarely use. the back flap is where i have my np1 as Allen mentioned.

i keep everything plugged in. All my connectors fit within the bag so im not concerned about putting it in the trunk of the car, having it bounce, hit the sides and break

i use Lectros. when im not using, i take antennas off. if i have to use the top flap due to a light rain/mist/dust then antennas get a little bent. I have the pegz2. the top flap has a zipper so the flap expands and gives antennas a little more room( i dont see the flap in your pictures).

If im not mistaken, it looks like your cables are from Gotham Sound. you can get the velcro i mentioned above there.
