Vegas is one hell of a program, but here's a strange bug that I've experienced for years that hasn't been addressed.
When working with mp4 files (and possibly other formats) Vegas must take 3-5 seconds to 'think' every time I click out of Vegas and come back in. But as long as I stay inside Vegas there are no hangs.
Conversely, if I edit a native AVCHD format like MTS files, there is no delay whatsoever when clicking outside of Vegas (say to Sound Forge or a browser) and coming back in and working.
I haven't had time to test this on every codec out there, but I know it happens with mp4s and a few others. The 3-5 second delay every time I come back in is frustrating enough that I'm editing native AVCHD files from my GH2. Thanks to the new GPU acceleration I can do this, but the preview resolution is a bit lower than if I'm running an mp4. Trade-offs I suppose.
