Does this exist anywhere?

Has anyone ever seen something like this that I'm looking for?

I want to record to a small laptop with On Location, so what I think would be very useful is to have somewhere to put the laptop on my tripod so I can move around as normal rather than having a cable running off to a laptop on a desk etc.

Looking at it from a design view - I wondered if there was a table/platform that could attach to the tripod by attaching the quick release plate from my tripod (that normally attaches to the camera) and then on that platform I could attach the camera and have the laptop at the side?

I suppose I could make one out of pipe cleaners and sticky plastic but I wondered if a something like this already existed??

Good idea for the studio....too bulky, with too much set up time for anything else...usually.

Price will amount to about the same as a firestore, and if you feel the need to modify and fiddle, you can upgrade the drive on a firestore to much larger then stock.

I have one of the B&H "311K Video Monitor Holder Kit". Alas, the "035 Super Clamp" doesn't go down small enough to clamp on to even my rather large Bogen/Manfrotto tripod leg tubes, and the "311 Monitor Holder" is too small except for the tiniest netbook computer.

Is this what you are looking for? I bought a laptop shelve on ebay that screws on to a tripod or light stand with a 3/8" thread. It also has velcro straps to hold things down. I use it to hold my HD field monitor and screw it onto a light stand. It worked very well. I have to do a little digging to find the name of the company it bought it from. I think they were in Florida. The best part is the shelve costs $20. I have attached a pic of it. It can be seen in this documentary set up on location.

If you want to put a notebook computer on a light stand, a rectangle of plywood (to fit your computer) with a 5/8" ("baby") "receiver" screwed onto the bottom does the trick quite nicely. For example...
