Does the shutter do anything in 60i on the DVX?

Does the shutter do anything when shooting in 60i on the DVX. I couldn't notice much of a difference when switching shutter speeds when I removed 24p mode. But shutter speed in 24p mode is amazingly obvious.
 
You can change the shutter speed from 1/60 to 1/2000th in 60i mode, IIRC. Use the "shutter" button to make sure that the shutter is on, and then use the SPEED SEL button to change the shutter speed.
 
Thanks Barry. What I meant to say was that I know how to do it. I mean, I don't see a difference in picture quality when changing shutter speed under 60i as I do in 24p mode... In 24p for example, 1/500th is beautiful and obviously different from 1/48th. In 60i, I don't see much of a difference in the picture between 1/60th and 1/500th...

Also, when the shutter speed button is off in 24p, the shutter is on by default at 1/48th correct?
