Does it damage the DVX to leave it on?

I posted a few days ago regarding this and got 0 replies, so I'm trying again. I left my DVX on for 4 hours or so with a tape in it. The camera was quite warm, but seems fine. Can this damage the camera in any way or is it ok after it cools down?
Thanks.

itll be fine. all electronics get warm. unless its melting the tape in the camera its normal. in the manual it tells you the normal operating tempatures. if its above those, then theres a problem.

Do you mean just sitting out, or in a camera bag where heat can build up?

If just leaving it out, on, for four hours damaged it, it wouldn' t be of much use as a camera. :)

But you probably don't want to leave it in the bag too much when you do that. I'm sure it'll be fine, but avoid doing that.

It was in the bag, actually...it wasn't hot, but pretty warm. I just shot a bit with it and it seemed fine...

It's more damaging to leave it off - with the tape sitting in it. Because the rollers and capstan are still engaged with the tape and the rollers can flatten and the tape can stretch.

My HVX get hot. like literally hot. and the P2 cards when you take em out are REALLY warm. That kinda freaked me out at first. but it does it every time so i stopped worrying.
