Does FCP hate chinese people?

This has been a recurring problem, probably am doing something wrong... but so far, it seems straight forward.

I go to easy setup, set to 23.98 DV NTSC. Ok. I checked the timeline, its in 23.98. Occasionally, I captured my footage and ends up correctly at 23.98. MOST of the time, the damn thing captures in 29.97.
Why is it that chinese people always have to suffer? Opium tried to get rid of us, the white man trying to get rid of us, the japanese tried to get rid of us, why? why God why?

Thanks

You know written chinese characters should not be difficult to implement in software.. Sure there are hundreds of dialects but the characters are the same for all of them.

I never tried to hurt a chinese person.
My favorite restaurant is Bangkok-Tokyo... Erm, hold the phone, that isn't Chinese. Well, they should be Chinese--they are so delicious.. Hang on why I do something about that.
Tongue in cheek : )

I have no relevant advice on Final Cut Pro, sorry.

If it doesn't come out at 23.98, use "Remove Advanced Pulldown."

If that doesn't work, it's your deck or your tape is a little messed up. Final Cut Pro won't remove pulldown if there's an error in the cadence from a drop out.

Oddly, the only time I had a major problem with this was with MQ tapes. I guess the white tapes hate white people (no problems with the black MP tapes...)

I get the same problem. it's just on occasion though. but I deal with it.. just render the ones that came out29.97. usually, if I just restart the program it reads back correctly once i reopen those same files in a new project.

This is the F5 24P setting though. I seem to fairly okay with 24pA. Im guess I dont need to go through the advanced pulldown removal for F5 do i?

I guess it just hates chinese people.

F5 24p doesn't use advanced pulldown so FCP can't remove it. If you want true 24fps (23.98) from 24p you need to use Cinema Tools to remove pulldown.

yeah, if you shoot F5, you can't use Final Cut Pro to remove pulldown. That's why it's importing it at 29.97fps. FCP can only remove pulldown for 24pA so it treats 24p as 30i (bring it into cinema tools, and then you can remove pulldown.)

However, editing this way means you lose some quality (one more compression generation.) Shooting 24pA is a LOT easier and less troublesome.

sweet lord almighty, I always thought it was the other way around. F6 is harder thann F5. Well, what do you expect from a chinese guy thats bad in math? Thanks guys
