Does batch capture require rendering to view?

I just captured 2 tapes. The first one i just captured from beginning to end and it played without rendering, but i batch captured the 2nd tape and it's requiring me to render all the clips...is this normal?

no, that problem would indicate that your sequence settings do not match the settings of your clips.

Yep, the same clip plays fine in another sequence...how do i change the settings?

Chose the appropriate Easy Setup (ex. if you are working in 4:3 DV choose DV-NTSC), then when you create a new sequence it will have the right settings. Also, you can select a sequence, right click, Settings, then click on the "Load Seq Presets" button in the low left to choose the appropriate preset to match your footage.
