Does Audio Recorded with FCP 7 meet these format requirements

I did a super simple audio recording for my boss using FCP 7
It is an audio recording that will be used for clients as they wait "on hold"
It was a simple lav going into a camera... then I just did away with the video
So the phone company has given me the format requirements for it to play correctly on our phone system and I need to know if anyone here can tell me if FCP will meet these requirements as is- and if not, what is the process to get it right
thanks
jared

Hi Jared,

The resolution of the image is really small so when I zoom into it, I believe I see a sample rate of 8kHz, 64kbps, 8bit(?), mono... I can't make out the Audio Format, however. Can you type it out?

But yes, FCP records audio that exceeds those specs. You would then need software to transcode your recording to the requested format... iTunes could do an mp3 with the above specs..

very kind of you to reply... thanks so much...
the audio format is CCiTT u-law
Does that mean anything to you cause it certainly doesn't to me

by the way ryan... if it makes sense to you and you know how to get all the requirements... i'd pay you for the work... i can dropbox the audio files to you and you can just dropbox them back to me... let me know if you'd be interested in doing that and if so, how much would you charge... it is about a 10 minute clip of audio

Hi Jared,

No need to involve money :) the solution is rather simple, I think:

Export only the audio out of FCP (you can probably set the sample rate to 48kHz at 16bit, which is probably what FCP recorded it at.

Then download Audacity for Mac. I think it is still free.

Then follow this thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=67010

The settings and instructions to meet your spec is the second post from the top.
