Does anyone know how to troubleshoot a LenzHound follow focus?

Hi all. I've had a follow focus kit by MotionDogs, called the LenzHound for a while and barely used it. Typically now that I want to use it I can't make it work.

The problem is simply that whilst both the controller and motor units have power and power on and appear to be running normally, the motor element simply doesn't respond to commands sent by the controller. If anyone has experience of the devices and troubleshooting them I'd love to hear from you.


The company seems to have completely folded and very frustratingly I know someone is reading my emails to them for help but they are just choosing to ignore me. Chasing them resulting in nothing except it seemed to prompt them to take down their FaceBook page in the last day or two.

Did you check out some of their YouTube tutorials or other third-party YouTuber reviews?

If no one from the company responds, YouTube is likely your best bet besides some very random forum user who owns that particular product (on any forum) who may see your post and help.

I owned that system and remember having a similar issue with it, until I understood how it actually worked. Like the video above shows, you have to define infinity and close focus on the lens using the little light up knob first. Only then can you use the big black dial to control the follow focus.

Ahh fantastic thanks guys, it was indeed this calibration issue! Phew. One happy customer.

In my defence, I had seen that video before but mine goes green when turned on, not red so I'd kind of ignored the video as it didn't seem to apply to the reality of my own setup.

How frustrating.... whomever had read my emails at MotionDogs could have told me this in 20 seconds but instead chose not to and just deleted my posts.
