Does anyone here play guitar?

I'm thinking of purchasing an electric acoustic guitar. Not for performing -- just to entertain myself. I took lessons as a kid on a classical guitar, which I still have, but the bridge is damaged... I was thinking of getting back into it and was looking for recommendations, in the $200-$400 range. I went into a fairly reputable shop today where the owner recommended I check out Dean Guitars entry-level/intermediate line. I'm gonna check out the company's Web site now, but if anyone has any other recommendations, please let me know. Thanks!

Hmmm...... Dean is pretty good..... I'd recomend going to a shop and playing it before buying anything.... And instrument is very personal and different ones are better for different people. Play a few and see what you think feels better

But value and feel are different, a guitar can be a good value but if you don't personally like how it plays its not worth it

or you could buy a Taylor Big Baby and hook it up with an under the saddle pickup. I think that'd sound pretty sweet, and it'd be right in the area of 400 dollars. Granted it requires actually isntalling a pickup, but Taylors sound really good. Even the Big Baby model.

$400.00 ?

I'd consider tracking down an Ovation

Yeah, Ovations are pretty sweet guitars. A friend of mine has had one for 20+ years.

I have an Alvarez 9-string acoustic; it's supposed to have the octave stings for the bottom three strings, but I just string it up as a six string.

Another nice acoustic brand is Yamaha.

I think it's important to pick a few up and get a good feel before you commit to paying for anything.

This also works for hookers and fresh fruit. ;0

I love Ovation's Terry !

I have a Yamaha Acoustic (I went through many a guitar in my younger more angry days). I have a Yamaha F-310 I got for $25.00 from a neighbor I had; think it retails at $150.00 ?

Stay away from Guiter Center. Overpriced and the Sales Associates either haven't a clue or wont give you the time of the day if you are'nt a 'musician' (My experience)

She's married to Cameron Crowe. She had a cameo in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. She was the hot blonde in the Corvette that Brad was checking out while driving in his pirate costume.

Hey... I own an ovation, a Maton, fender and a number of other guitars.... the best one ever was the seagull from canada... sadly it was stolen... and it was the best value 'cause it felt so good.
