Does a "Follow Zoom" like device exist?

I'm risking sounding like a Bozo here, but...

I know a follow focus will allow you to define preset focus points and lock them in for a rack focus.

Does anything like that exist for the Zoom? I would love to block out ranges to prevent vigenetting, or other issues when zooming too wide or narrow.

Does anything like this exist for the DVX?

Not ready made for that purpose for the DVX. You may however beable to use the hard stops on a follow focus and hook it up to a custom gear attached to the zoom ring on the lens.

Follow focus is generally done by a second person, the AC. They often also do the zoom and can make marks on the zoom ring to note start & stop points.

We used to use camera tape. It would be attached to the rods and the zoom - postioned as required - the center section of the tape was folded over ( adding strength and stopping it from sticking to the lens barrel). Worked fine.
