documentary production house looking for the right camcorder

Hi there,

I want to open a small documentary production house (also seldom clip production)
and I want to invest in a good camcorder for my budget 5'000 EUR.
My requirements are:
- interchangeable lenses; I was thinking to get a camcorder that comes with a zoom lens mounted on which gives the possibility to change it with lenses when I will be able to invest in better quality lenses and to be accompanied by a focus puller.
- 4:2:2 codec compression
- no DSLRs as I like the ergonomics and the weight of a camcorder, to take only one issue into account.
- as big as possible the chip/CMOS size;
- good color profile (I like very much Panasonic's compared to Sony's)
- good dynamic range

Thanks

Uh...maybe the AF100? The codec is 4:2:0 but you could use the extra cash to buy an external recorder and pull the uncompressed 4:2:2 from HDMI. Although that's not necessarily going to be convenient, depending on what kind of docs you're looking to shoot. I don't know that there's anything in your budget that would fit all those specs though, especially if you take into account the cost of lenses...

However, for that budget you could get a 5dmk2, a lens or two, and a lower-end rig that would allow you to hold and use the camera like a regular camcorder, probably. Still, I'd recommend just getting an HMC for run and gun stuff and a DSLR to shoot when you actually need interchangable lenses. But often in shooting documentary, interchangable lenses could just be sort of a pain in the ass.

Sounds like you might have to look for good used gear to meet your requirements. P2 based Panny? JVC HM700U? Used Canon XF300? Sony NX5U? Something more expensive than an HMC150, given your specs.

i think the it depends on Docomentry situations as it is shown so P2 based Panny? JVC HM700U? and then then i will be able to tell i am working for a cable Tv and i want to get more and more information about it

Maybe I would save up and just get the Sony EX-3 or Panny 300 used. Both fabulous cameras. And that's coming from a Panasonic lover.
