I just caught the end of the news and it said 2 American documantary filmakers died today in Africa when thier small plane crashed.

Does anyone know anything about it?

Glad to hear it however the pilot died. I'm a pilot of a small plane so it always catches my attention.

Thanks for the link, the 2 suvivors both live in counties that I have friends in, actually I think one might live in Grinners county.

yeah. I'll be down that way within a year. There are some ophanages down there that save kids from drug lords. I'll be volunteering to go.
Good dudes. Went on a whim and have managed to rally over 20 million toward the cause so far.

Interesting string. I just returned from filming in Molo Kenya a couple weeks ago. When I was there I called my Mom - she was relieved to get the call (my cell didn't work there) - she heard about this plane crash and thought it might have been me.

Also grinner - I'm making a doc on International Volunteering. I was there a month at the Chazon Children's Centre - everyone involved with the project (including myself) is doing so on a "volunteer basis". I'm creating a brand and a website for Chazon as well as shoot/direct/write/edit the film - all proceeds will go to the Chazon/Watoto Wa Baraka/Melon/Amani Baby Cottage - orphanages. In addition to this work I'm also taking on "fund raising" to buy an old unoccupied hotel in Molo, it has 50 rooms and we need to raise $100,000 - how did you raise the 20 million? I would really appreciate any advice, as I have never done this sort of work before. Also the project you will be volunteering for sounds awesome! I'd love to come and shoot there for my film - can you share any details? Molo Kenya was hard hit by the tribal clashes and the HIV/AIDS situation; really hope to hear from you! The hotel will get 100 plus street kids safe sheltor education and food! Thanks, Daniel Brevick

How does one join one of these volunteer projects in africa? is there a website - friends of friends etc.... just wondering might be interested.

I'm currently building a site for the Chazon group - we got there logo completed so I launched a quick blog so they'd have some presence on the web. It's ChazonChildrenCentre.blogspot.com

It was a great experience! Life changing. I hope to go back many times. You can contact Lucy directly at chazonchildrencentre@yahoo.com. There are third party groups out there too, they will basically charge you a lot of money and hook you up with a group like this one - but then the group itself gets little to nothng and they really need the support. If you want more details feel free to contact me at duckfeet13@gmail.com
