Doc Savage

The Doc Savage books were fun to read if you're into Pulp Fiction. However I haven't seen much on the big screen that successfully captures this genre.

Green Hornet is kinda in the same vein and they went goofy comedy with it, which didn't work. Same with Lone Ranger from what I hear, but I haven't watched it yet.

John Carter is in this category but in that case I think they got so lost in creating costumes and CGI they forgot you might need a good script too. It's also dated. You can set the story in the past if you like, but you need a fresh perspective like Sherlock Holmes. While set in the past and based on somewhat dated material, Sherlock Holmes movies are updated in their story telling elements so they appeals to today's audiences.

I'd like to see Doc Savage if done right. The script needs to be serious in that the characters are heroes not bumbling buffoons played for laughs, but with a fun sense of adventure like Indiana Jones, and updated material ike Sherlock Holmes.
