Do you know which transition I speak of?

I feel silly for not knowing this but... I want that look of stopping and starting a film camera. You know going form correctly exposed to overexposed completely. I have been using a dip to color dissolve, with the color being white which works for a lot of things but what I really want is that all too common look of the image blowing out and coming back in as a new clip.

How do I do that in FCP? I have found a couple of ways in motion to achieve it, but I know there has to be a simpler way. Any Help? Thanks in advance.

im not sure in final cut cause I mainly use premiere and after effects but look into "light leak" effects and do lots of searching on here aswell I know Ive seen discussions on this before.

You can try Eureka's free Vapor Across :

It will do the same as your dip to color, but adding blur…

Hope this help

Try Nattress Effects' "Film Flash". I think it's just bundled with their Film Effects filters.

You can set the frame lengths, amount of brightness, blur and whether it happens at the start, end or start & end of clips.

Go Bulls.... and Blue Devils of course.

thanks for the advice. I can't find the natress stuff but I haven't given up. And yes Go Bulls go Devils but not in that order. Thanks again
