Do you have actors fill out W-9 tax forms and ask for their social security numbers?

I always feel awkward asking for it. I had a SAG shoot and all they ask for is the last 4 of the SSN and some actors were nervous about giving it out. Let alone the whole thing.

Yes, SAG and actors are nervous about that - we all are. But I've told them until I get their ss#, they don't get paid. That overrides the contract (i.e. the length of time for payment before penalties kick in). AFter that, I get the # immediately. On the other hand, I am EXTREMELY careful with their info. For example, I have an industrial shredder that all contracts go through after they expire. I never toss things like that in the trash.
