do you dream in color or black and white?

When I was a wee young lad I used to have a couple of strange dream-like experiences.

The first one was a dream where I was falling through what seemed to be a void, but sometimes outer space as I could see stars all around me. What would then happen is my body would stiffen up and I would get the sensation of falling. I would impact something, then would immediately wake up and I swear that on more than one occasion, my whole body bounced and lifted up off the bed. It was kinda like if you stood on a bed or trampoline and jumped, landed on your back, and then bounced up.

The other one was just as I was sort of drifting to sleep, my eyes closed, I would move through various abstract spaces in a first-person-perspective. The best way to describe it would be like moving through continuous and ever evolving multi-colored nebulae. But the way I moved through this stuff would start out slow and speed up, not unlike the POV shots in Stargate when they go through the gate. Also, these abstract dreams were also similar to the way the transfer from human mind to avatar body looked in Avatar (the white back ground with the tunnel-like rush of colors and forms).

Both of these were recurring dreams that I had many times at that point in my life.

Color for me.

and they are very strange. A lot of zombie dreams. Don't know why.

You lucky bastard!!! I wish I had zombie dreams.

Some men dream in color.

Other men dream in black and white.

I dream in ones and zeroes.

Is your name Neo?

I used to dream in animation every once in a while when I was a teenager.

I remember having a dream that started out live action, then morphed into various forms of strange animation.

It's a line for a character created by a friend of mine - the character has been so extensively prosthetized that he's not much more than a human brain and spinal column encased in machinery. You might say he's just a little bit messed up.

'I Dream of Zombie?'

I smell syndication.

LOL...I had a dumb movie idea awhile back wondering what the next evolution of Zombies would be, and came to the conclusion it would be hot, sexy zombies. They want to eat your flesh still, but they're not decomposing. They're attractive and charming. Like Vampires, I guess...only they don't just want your blood.

My understanding has been that everyone dreams in b&w, and then we color it in when remembering the dream once awake.

There was some explanation about the part of the brain that processes color isn't active during REM sleep. It was a while back though.

But anyway, I dream in IMAX.

I've always wondered how in gods green earth can anyone say that everyone dreams in B and W ? How can anyone know this ? They can't.

We are in post on a zombie flick that tells the story from the zombie POV.

For the myth about falling and not hitting the ground in a dream: I had this dream about 15 years ago and it was one of those "intense dreams".

I was crossing a chasm on a rope bridge. In the dream, I felt I was in India or Tibet. I slipped and fell. I felt the sensation of falling a long distance, and hit the ground. I remember dust getting in my eyes and picking rocks out of my skin after getting up.

I know, bizarre. But this was a very lucid dream and cannot forget it to this day.

But.....color.

I can imagine that there may be things one can do with an FMRI and/or CAT imager to support the idea.

When I was about 9 or 10, in a dream I saw a house in the forest by a hill and creek that I still remember in fine detail, to this day. The plan is to find that spot and build the house there...

Too late, I found it first, built the house and am living happily ever after!
