Do Tiffen 3X3 filters fit in Cokin P holder?

Cokin lists their P filters as being 84mm square, which converts to 3 1/3 inches. If the Tiffen 3x3 filters are exactly 3 inches sq, this would suggest that they are 1/3 inch too small to fit in a Cokin P filter holder.

As you can guess, I have a few P sized filters and a Cokin P holder. I'm looking to get a Tiffen pro-mist filter and happen to see a few of the 3x3 sized filters on ebay, but am unsure as to what filter holder I would need to use it.
 
I also have been seeing the Tiffen series 9 filters on ebay. However much like the Tiffen 3x3 filters, I can't seem to find any information on how these filters are mounted. The Tiffen site does not list any filter holders for either the series 9 or 3x3 filters.
