I'm wondering if it's possible to record DVDs onto VHS tapes on DVD-VHS combo players. I know you can record from VHS to DVD but can you also do the opposite?
It's for a project : )
Any answers would be greatly appreciated thank you.
The last one I bought was the Funai Combination VCR and DVD Recorder (ZV427FX4). Still available. Very hard to find the real good units (mainly JVC) with time code correction, but this one did all I needed, except for it doesn't have the time code correction feature. That is useful to have if converting/capturing old VHS tapes that have tracking/synch problems.
Ah I can't find any of that brand. It's strange though, most of the ones I'm finding on ebay either have a broken DVD drive or vice versa. Doesn't look like these things were very well made.
If you already have a DVD player it might be easier just to find a decent VHS deck. JVC made a lot of good ones. I have an old JVC HRS9911U top of the line consumer model that is still working fine after 12 years and has a built in image stabilizer/time base corrector so it is great for transferring from VHS to digital formats too.
I have seen them in walmart stores for around $150-170. They were branded RCA when I bought one, then later a couple other names, Funai was one I think.
Mine has proved very helpful (time saving) converting VHS to DVD but I haven't tried the other direction
