DNxHR HQ not loading in Premiere CC 2015

Hello,

I am having trouble importing DNxHR videos into Premiere. I have 2 PCs in my studio. Both have windows 7 64bit, Premiere CC2015, and Davinci Resolve 12.5. My main PC has no trouble exporting DNxHR videos from davinci, and then importing them into Premiere for editing. But on my 2nd PC, when I attempt to import DNxHR clips into premiere, Premiere says the codec is unreadable or unavailable. On that same machine, when I try importing DNxHR clips into Davinci, Davinci crashes. I've installed the latest version of quicktime, and have installed Avid's LE codecs. I've also tried manually updating Premiere's codec XMLs. Any ideas what might be going on?

Hi Jim, Thanks for this info. I'll be careful about quicktime. But this doesn't help me with my issue. I've tried now on another PC, and I'm having the same problem...

The issue is that DaVinci requires QuickTime to be installed. Since that's a security risk, until Blackmagic changes the code for Resolve so that we can install it on Windows without QuickTime, Resolve is no longer a viable option.

Nor is any media in the QuickTime container, such as ProRes.

Thankfully, the Adobe suite creates DNxHR files in the superior MXF container, so pulling that thread might help.

There are no known viruses [yet] that exploit the quicktime vulnerability. And even then, you'd have to execute an attachment or download and execute something from a questionable website. Maybe I'm stupid, but for now I'll keep using resolve.

... anyway, I solved the problem by installing windows 10
