Sony Exmor sensor , I wonder what camera it was lifted from ?

UHD (4K):4096x2160p24/25,3840x2160p24/25/30
FHD:1920x1080p24/25/30/48/50/60
HD: 1280x720p24/25/30/48/50/60

Maybe the same sensor from the Sony Xperia Z3? It's 1/2.3" and will do UHD up to 30fps, and 1080p up to 60fps.

Not that i'm trying to deter anyone but do your research first. The Copter is amazing. The huge fallback is the camera. Watch the center frame on some videos, also watch the hi lights. It's easy to make a product look really good when you control the content. Great idea and concept but it might be a better call to stand pat til version 2.0.

Even on some of the really good shots watch the grass and other plants with sharp details. It's creating a lot of artifacts. The concerning part to me is even though the video that makes it look worst could lead you to think it's an operator error, the same problems still exist the the content DJI determined was usable to promote the product.

How's the built-in camera compared to the Hero4?

I would also like to know how it compares with a Hero 4. Philip Bloom has the Hero4, so would love to hear/read his views. I was about to buy the Phantom 2 with H3-3D to fly my Go Pro Hero 4. So wondering if the inspire is a better bet.

The Phantom 2 with the H3-3D is a proven platform already and the Hero4 is also a well-regarded camera. The Phantom 2 is much less expensive as well. DJI does a great job with their flying machines but their cameras not so much. personally I love the design of the Inspire due to having a 360 degree clear view. That right there is huge. That being said I'd prefer an Inspire sans proprietary camera and fly a Hero4 underneath on a 3-axis gimbal instead. That is, IF it were up to me and that is right now. I would like to see more video samples before making a final judgement though.

I do like how everything is integral and once you have fitted a Phantom 2 with a Hero 4, downlink gear, etc. the price will be getting a tad closer to the Inspire.

The dual radio option is very nice. In the pro world, most guys have a dedicated pilot and a shooter. This is the absolute best way to not only get great footage but also avoid accidents. Flying solo and shooting you have to think as both a pilot and a shooter. This simplifies tasks considerably.

He's clearly getting something out of being on camera for DJI. I would say i'm curious about his views until I saw him in an advertised video for DJI.

In the FroKnowsPhoto test video you can see rolling shutter. It was pretty windy.

Nearly every single video has rolling shutter and hilights clipping. The sharpness is creating terrible artifacts as well.

I'm sure they'll sell plenty but imagine how many they'd sell if they left it as is and gave you an option to put a GoPro on their instead. I'd buy one this instant.

"Its easy to make a product look really good when you control the content"...
Isn't that what we try to do everyday with any of our other cameras? Control our content? Are you saying that you have a level of distrust in images because companies "control" their content and you won't be getting quality like you see in example videos or images? Because, when I see a video or some footage I think to my self, "if they can get that out of that device, so can I".

I think this Inspire is amazing. The software in it is worth the price alone. The controller is great. The design is outstanding.

"Stand pat until version 2.0"??? The camera is removable. The bird is not going to change.

I shoot lots with the Phantom 2 with GP4. It works but it also doesn't work. Having to de-fisheye everything and then crop because my blades are in the shot when I fly 7mph forward has gotten old.

I will be buying this Inspire the second one is available. Hell, the camera has a filter thread on it. Now I get to pick which ND brand goes on the lens. Start and stop record and switch between video and still while in the air. Looks like manual control of the camera too. The Gp4 just doesn't do that.

Good job Dji. Another fine product that has my attention.

Based on one of the videos I just watched there will likely be an option of selecting your own camera somewhere down the road in lieu of the DJI cam. The overall design of the Inspire is very impressive. The Phantoms are pretty nice but keeping those legs out of view on windy days or during more aggressive turns is quite difficult at times.

Sure was windy. My canton 2 with gp4 wouldn't even go up in those conditions. Also, my GH4 would have had a hell of a time exposing for those backlit clouds and then rotating to the dark ground. Hell, just shooting the clouds would have made the GP4 flip out.

Good point. Look at every new GoPro model promo video. That content is very controlled. It is shot and edited very well. Some folks get frustrated that what they shot doesn't look as good as the promo but they fail to realize what all goes into actually making it look that way. Your point (THE point) is as you said....showing what it is "capable" of.

Now all we have to do is strive for that ourselves =)

I'm not saying what they accomplished isn't amazing. I'm just saying that camera isn't creating very good looking images. Am I interested? Absolutely. Would I buy it now based on what I saw? Absolutely not.

Look at the video that is cloudy where the hilights are clipping. Is that something you'd use in a production? Also watching for the rolling shutter and jitter.

I mean yeah everyone tries to control the content released. But even in their best content all of those problems are extremely apparent. I'm not saying no one should use them. I'm just saying I guess for work that I want to produce, I wouldn't use it mixed in with other content I shoot based on the content released thus far.

I do love the modularity of it though and hopefully that allows for other cameras or even improvements from DJI. I love it overall but the on board camera limitation is enough to not want to buy it and i'm sure there are many others who would argue it both ways.

I guess I'll wait to see what other reviews come out as this gets into consumers hands. But based on even the best content so far i'm not sure i'd want to use it. I've seen far better results out of Phantom's with GoPro's.

Like I said, take your GP4 and point it at those clouds and see how far you get. And in this day and age, there is always something better. But it will cost you 5x's as much. Yes there is rolling shutter. But if you watch that video and look at the water, I being one that races sailboats will tell you from reading that water and the trees, that they were flying in 18-22 knot sustained winds with puffs possible reaching 27-30 knots. I wouldn't even attempt to fly my phantom with GP4 in those conditions.
