DIY zoom controller variation

Remote control

I was thinking about improving on the original D.I.Y remote zoom controller by adding a 3 position switch (like on the dvx handle) , #1 for slow #2 for medium and #3 for fast speed, but I dont exactly know how to go about creating it. Then I would like to see a rocker control also like on the dvx handle to control the speed and then of course a momentary switch for the rec/stop button.

In this design I dont know exactly how to go about creating it.

Wouldn't this idea bypass the need for a potentiometer? (which have been hard to find 20k for me)

How would I wire each of the 3 positions?
(would I need to use resistors>)

Is there anyone with electronic experience willing to give me some pointers?

Thanks

Re: DIY zoom controller variation

I made a post a few months ago showing a way to make a zoom controller using resistors and six pushbutton switches. Just search for "zoom controller".

Hope it helps.
