I made a DIY tutorial on building a wireless bluetooth controller for any gimbal based around the Alexmos/Basecam hardware - so from handheld ones like the PilotFly FunnyGo, to tons of the drones, to some of the bigger DSLR rigs. Overall it's a pretty simple build (it doesn't even require soldering), and at the end you get a solid little remote that's super easy to work with and tweak if you're so inclined. You can check out showing the features and how to build it here:
I'm actually working on another new gimbal controller right now, but it won't replace this one, just controls it in a different way - but it's also going to be a much more complicated build that this one, so I would advise trying this first if you're interested in these sorts of things.
