There are a lot of websites with DIY stuff. I've come across quite a few of them in the past. Some have great ideas, some I could only laugh at.
So - I thought - let's make a collection of links here, with your comments.
I am sure this was done in the past on this forum, but - what the heck.
WHO KNOWS GOOD SITES?

The cheapest way i use to stabilize a moving shot when you have nothing besides your tripod, costs zero:

Assuming you dont have a high end heavy tripod, but the cheaper kind i have, you can just leave the tripod attached to the camera, elevate the final part of the tripod to the top, leave legs closed (shortened position) and joined together. Then just hold the 'system' with your hand about 20cm below the camera, on the upper part of the tripod stick. The weight and inertia of the system, together with the filtering capabilities of your arm, will provide you a reasonably steady shot in many situations. better than handheld, for sure. Also requires little practise to walk in a 'soft' way.
