DIY Timecode Slate? Anyone know where I can find a circuit board?

I'm looking at the possibility of making my own SMPTE Timecode slate, but I'm wondering if anyone knows who sells the boards for these things? I think I have the reast figured out and sourced, it's just a matter of finding someone who makes the electronics. If anyone knows, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Not sure if anyone makes a single IC like you are looking for.

The circuit you are looking for would be a ociliator (555) hooked to multiple counters (7490) that dump into 7 segment drivers (7448) that are connected to a 7 segment display. You would have to daisy chain multiple 7490 counters for each digit you want to display and each would need its own 7448 driver.

If you are up to it you can purchase "Getting Started in Electronics" by Forrest Mims: http://www.forrestmims.com/ Page 117 has a simple 9 second timer that would be the kernal of what you are trying to accomplish. It won't be easy...

I don't know much about this, but you might pull this off with an Arduino.
http://www.arduino.cc/ it's a cheap microprocessor/PLC that you can program via USB on mac/pc/linux.

In fact, here http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/present.php?p=GPSClock-1
is a large digital clock that someone built with one. You'd only need to modify the code a little to make it show timecode. Of course to make it sync with other devices might be a bit more challenging... Keep us posted.
