DIY Shoulder rig for DSLR

I just wanted to share some pics on a lightweight rig I built, inspired by some of the other builds on this forum.
Its built in aluminium, and weighs about 850g. I want to get the LCDVF, but Its been out of stock for some time now in most online stores.
It cost me maybe 300-400 SEK in materials which is around $50-$60 US. Thats not including the manfrotto quickrelease plate. (http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/cache/offonce/pid/3266)

Im not quite happy with the soulderpad yet, so Im going to see what I can put there instead. Im also going to round off some of the edges as they are still quite sharp.
This was my first try, so I might take my lessons learned and improve it later on. The best part is that its so modular that I can now improve bit by bit.

It works well with my Tamron 17-50, but I feel that when I use my Canon L 70-200/2,8 IS, the balance is off, so Im probably be needing some sort of counterweight then.

I am very impressed with your creative use of aluminum "U" channel. I like how you stacked it to get the front bar. Run the ends of your channel against a fine grade wire wheel lightly and they will not be sharp any longer.

Thank you for sharing you design!

Thanks for the input Gary. Actually I used both U channels and something that would be a "UC" channel. This gave me a bigger surface for added stability.

I just updated the handlebars since the old way wasn´t as stable as I had hoped.

Here are some new pics and some that show some more details.

Im going to add a tripod mount and also something to fix that ugly shoulderpad, but Im not sure what I could use there.

Snyggt jobbat!
Where did you get the parts? I don't have a Claes Ohlson over here, but Home Depot or Lowes might do. Thanks buddy!
