DIY Shoulder Mount

This is a shoulder mount I made up after looking at several online and on ebay, I figured I could build it cheaper. This guy took me about 20 minutes tops and cost almost nothing and is amazingly sturdy. I took 2 pvc 1/2" sweep 90's ($.80 each) 1 pvc 1/2" conduit T ($1.80) 1 pvc 3/4" sweep 90 ($.90 each) 1 pvc 3/4" to 1/2" reducer ($.30) 10' 1/2" pvc ($2.30) (used 15" rest for other projects). What is not in the pictures is I have a pvc pipe that comes down from the T to your belly for added support. Extremely sturdy even for long shooting times. I wanted to attach pictures but it won't let me.

I am still writing my script so I am dying to do some shooting, so next best thing is build stuff to make shooting better. I have got a music video shoot coming in a week, so the jib and shoulder mount were mainly made for it. Got the pics on this time.

Wow. I spent way more (both in time and money) to make mine...and I like yours better.

Dude, you left the lens cap on

maybe put some bike handle brips on the handles, and then use one of those foam pads thry put on kids bikes, as I recall they put on on the handlebars, and a largerone on the crotch bar, the second one should fit on the shoulder pipe to give you a nice cushen, save your shoulder a bit, and maybe retard some of your bod movement from making its way to the camera.

I think i may build two of these, one just like yours, and then a single handle unit like yours but made from steel pipe to run my hvx and m2 adapter. and still have a hand free for the ff.

i dont mean to pull up an old thread, but i really want to build this mount, i just have 2 questions.
1) What size screw is used to screw into the bottom of the camera (like on a tripod mount)?
2) Do you think the PVC is sturdy enough to support a 35mm adapter system (no mattebox or FF, just the adapter and rails)?
thanks guys

i've built something similar but i find lack of counterbalance on teh back to kinda mess it up - i also made mine with adjustable handles - so you can rotate them up or down - convenient depending on your position

nice...what is that square piece in the middle (holding the cam and connecting the handlebars to the piece that goes over your shoulder?
