DIY Scoop

Hey guys,

We have a project coming up that we are shooting in my old college in their studio... basically we need a white scoop to shoot some demo's on which the college does have but it is in another part of the college.. i'm not yet sure if it is possible to move it to the studio so as a backup plan i want to enquire as to how to make one on a budget...

Im aware that most professional scoops are made of wood and painted... but are there any other materials that would be up to the job that wont require a full days construction...??

Many thanks in advance!

Is it called a scoop in the UK? In the US it's called a "Cyc" short for cyclorama A Scoop in the US is a specific kind of light used on a television stage.

If it were just for a single shoot on a budget, I'd get a roll of seamless paper and hang it above the back wall and let it roll down across the floor.

Something like this:

Thanks for that man! Yeah i was considering the paper option but it was just the fact that it would mark and tear easily...
ill pop into the local art suppliers and see what kind of paper they have and if there is anything that looks upto the job.

Any other input with alternative materials will also be much appreciated!

Cheers

A more durable option is roll floor vinyl. Roll it down the wall and paint it what what ever color you want. It is not permanent but better than paper.

Cheers Guys,
I think i'm going to go with some photographic background paper.. Cheap and if it does get marked, we'll just roll some more out! :)

Cheers
